I’ve been teaching English and IELTS prep for nearly a decade, over that time I’ve experienced how rewarding it can be to see my students achieve their IELTS goals.
IELTS opens so many doors around the world and I’m always excited to help candidates reach their potential.
While teaching, I taught myself to code; over the last few years I have built this website, as well as two IELTS Android apps.

I studied English at university, and have spent the last 12 years teaching General English, Academic English and IELTS Preparation.
I have extensive experience in classroom and online teaching and am deeply sensitive to the needs of individual learners.
Helping people achieve their IELTS goals, thus enabling them to work or study abroad, is extremely rewarding and teaching has given me the opportunity to meet and help lots of wonderful people from all over the world.

Since obtaining a CELTA qualification in 2015, I have been teaching General, Business and Academic English, along with preparation for IELTS, University Admissions and Job Interviews.
IELTS allows people to achieve their dreams of moving abroad and being able to assist students in this process is extremely fulfilling.
Teaching a variety of nationalities is something I embrace, as well as the unique challenges that are presented with each student.

Absolutely amazing
Before taking classes here, I took the IELTS GT 3 times and every time I got 6.5 in writing. However, after taking few hours with Chris Cox, he was able to identify the problems I had with my writing and easily after I was able to get a 7.5 in writing.

Very helpful lessons!
I started 1 to 1 classes in order to improve my band score for Writing from 7.0 to 7.5. After 6 lessons with Tom spread over 4 weeks, in which we practiced answering different types of essay questions and letters, I scored 8.0 for Writing. Tom was a great teacher, very friendly, professional, positive and helpful. His feedback on my homework essays was specific and positive, and he always provided me with the necessary information and examples to improve a certain grammatical difficulty. My most important lesson was that it is important to envision a clear structure for the task and fully develop ideas and support them with arguments. I definitely felt a lot of improvement over the course of 4 weeks. For me, these lessons were exactly what I needed in order to reach my goal. Thank you Tom!

I got an 8 band score and I am very glad! I had classes with Tom and they helped me a lot. He knows exactly what the examiners are looking for and he gave me useful tips and instructions. The most difficult part for me was the writing but thanks to him I got a good grade as he emphasized many important things such as structure and cohesion. He also guided me in speaking on how to answer and talk naturally and the fact that he is a native speaker made it easier for me. Thank you!

I highly recommend this site, I connected to Tom Speed to improve my writing scores. In my first attempt I’d scored 6.5 and I booked the next test with 20 days of time. First of all, courses are strongly useful, with a lot of tips and tricks, how to improve your writing skills and even how to generate essay ideas, including very user friendly interactive lessons, with a lot of practice tasks and immediate feedback! I reached my target score thanks to those courses!
Secondly, is one-on-one lessons with Tom. Tom is a very patient tutor, with a lot of knowledge. He answered all my questions, with very detailed explanations and I felt comfortable asking more questions until this point became clear for me :)) I must say that during our lessons I started to feel more confident and in the end the second part of the Speaking Test turned to easy and not scary! :))
